Ribal Rayess
Tadafonk aka Ribal Rayess moved back to Beirut in 2010. He says he came back for a funeral and stayed for the party. Beforehand he was in NYC hoping around the art and music scene, holding design jobs, fronting bands and has played venues such as the CBGBs, The knitting Factory, Snitch, and Lit Lounge to name a few. But things were soon to change; he heard Keith Richards in an interview saying “Don’t make music before listening to records” and in the same day stumbled on Beats in Space Radio. Bands were quit, turntables where bought, home studio was set up and lives
were changes. Forever. Made beats in his bedroom and spun strictly vinyl sets with the 3Froe crew between Green Point and Bushwick. His sets are a mix of modern and eclectic selections that will take you on a ride from Brooklyn's Funky disco brass sections to Berlin's Jazzy house stompers.
When he moving back to Beirut vinyl parties happened few and far in between. He then focused on building up the record community through the Diggers’ Delight parties where he would hold pop up record shops and invite friends to dig, trade and spin records with him. 4 years later this party would help ignite several other similar parties and record stores started popping back up and the beat goes on! In 2019 Diggers’ Delight records is born and about to see the light with the first VA Compilation titled “Beirut Digs Vol.1” which will be an annual capture of the house music scene in Beirut with names Like Jack the Fish, G!, 3Lias, Big AL, Pomme Rouge, Jad Taleb, Cheh and more local resilient artists.
When your senses have been sculpted by the art scenes of Beirut, New York and Tripoli you'd have plenty of dance floor stories to tell. Tadafonk has been producing music in Beirut and supporting the underground since he relocated from NYC.
